    61 Powerglide relay

    1. Can anyone tell me why the powerglide relay on a 1961 is different than on a 59-60 and 62?
    2. What makes the 61 Corvette PG relay different from a regular horn relay or light relay?
    3. Is there anybody out there that can successfully rebuild my relay? It is an aftermarket unit-- maker unknown-- has number "1335" on its side and "12v" on the top. -- 3 connectors, Left for wire from neutral safety switch, center for ignition switch and right for ground to solenoid. Anyone recognize this number?
    4. Does anyone have a good number for a new replacement switch?
Appreciate any help you can provide.

Re: 61 Powerglide relay Part #

Original GM Part Number is "1116904 Relay Assy".
Does anyone have an old, original 60's/early 70's Echlin or other electrical catalog that might show a crossover number. Tried current NAPA but they couldn't turn up anything.

      Norm--
The powerglide relays that I have seen for 61 (and earlier) have 904 stamped into the face of the mounting flange--which is the abbrevieated part number. I'm not sure what you have, as per your first post.

        Thanks, Mike.
Mine is an aftermarket and doesn't look like the one in the 1961 CAM on Page A210. My configuration is just like a normal horn relay.

62 powerglide doesn't have a relay. I have a relay that is supposed to fit 58-61. It is a replacement for a #1116904, it has four terminals instead of three, but it has instructions for a 3 wire setup. You can have it if you think you can use it.
