    1964 Steering Stabilizer

My question deals with the steering stabilizer shock absorber used on my 1964 L75 300 HP car. The current Judging Guide claims that the unit is just a simple steering shock absorber painted grey but I just removed my original dated coded model and was wondering why the Judging Guide makes no mention of a part number or date code when the front and rear shocks are clearly marked as well and the judging guide does reference this? Any help is appreciated. In care you wanted to know it's a DELCO Product #3178100 dated 74-64. Picture available upon request.

    Thanks,

    Craig Willetts

Steering Stabilizers; part #/date code not judged

    Craig,

Yes, original steering dampers have stamped part numbers and date codes. But like several other items that are hard or impossible to get to that far under the center of the car, the numbers are not judged. The '66 TIM&JG just talks about color and attaching hardware. That's just the way it is.

Thanks Gary. By the way I am still enjoying the restored lock assembly I purchased from you several months ago.

      Thanks,

      Craig

What color did you find? Do you know if it was painted before or does it appear untouched?
        Thanks

It is the classic grey. Totally original and still works. I just felt it was a good time to replace with a new and improved one.

          Need one?

          Cheers,

          Craig
