I'm looking at 1970 vettes. I've noticed that some have the radiator expansion tank and others do not. 1970 Corvettes with NO A/C are suppose to have it, correct? Can someone explain, please?
For 1970, all Corvette big blocks used an external radiator supply tank.
As far as small blocks go, base engine with 4 speed transmission and without C-60 used an external supply tank. Some early 1970 LT-1 may have used an external supply tank. All LT-1/ZR-1 used an external supply tank. All other 1970 small blocks used a radiator with an integral filler and NO external supply tank.
"radiator with an integral filler" = radiator with a filler hole in the end tank covered by a radiator cap.
BTW: All this information is in the 1970-1972 Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide (TIM&JG) available from the NCRS bookstore --the sponsor of this site. Check out the NCRS store by clicking on the radio button at the top of the page
