    73 steering column lock

We have chapter member car a '73 with tilt tele steering column that has a loose top section to the steering column. It causes the column to wiggle side to side and be skewed toward pass side. Problem is getting the steering column ignition switch out so I can remove the upper casting. I only have manuals to 72 but something is different cause I do not appear to have a release inside the slot that the older 69-72 cars has as shown in the repair manual.

I'm guessing that the lower upper shaft bearing is bad. The upper one looks good. Any helpfull experience out there for this mid year guy......? I feel like a duck out of water.

If the lock has never been removed the slot needs to be broken out to push down the release.
