Hi Guys,

I have a couple of questions for the Munice experts. First, I would like to exchange my 325 Muncie for one with a correct date (around 5/1/65) and VIN stamp. Yes, I know the transmission is not judged. I checked with 4 Speeds by Darrell and they are pretty pricey. Anyone know a good source that can also correctly stamp the VIN?

Second question. I have an L79 with a 3.55 posi, so it origianlly would have come with a close ratio. I prefer the wide ratio for driveability especially with a 3.55. If I put in a wide ratio, will that cause a problem during judging or PV?

Try John Perrette, he advertises in the Driveline. As to the PV, Probably not, but there is always a chance that a sharp judge will study the rpm drop from 3rd to 4th and pick it up. Why chance it? I drive a '62 with a 3.36 and close ratio for road tours instead of using the 4.11 that the close ratio trans was mated to originally, and it really isn't a problem to drive.

My original '65 L79 3:55 actually came with a wide ratio and I recall verifying this combination in reference material.

Thanks guys. Years ago I had an L76 with 3.70 and close ratio, and I prefer the wide ratio. Good to hear it was available that way, even if it isn't the norm.
