    Power Steering Pulley

Should my 67,327/350, C60 equipped cars Power Steering Pump have a cast iron double pulley? I'm thinking not but the Archives just further confuse me. Also the P/S,C/S Pulley is a smaller Diameter? Thanks for your help. Al W.

    Re: Power Steering Pulley

    Allan,

I have 1965 equipped with C60 w/PS and it has a single, stamped steel PS pulley. The diameter should be roughly 4 to 5 inches in diamter. I believe that all C2 equipped with PS used the same pulley. I have a 1968 Camero and it has the exact same PS pump, pulley, etc. as my '65 Corvette.

    Best Regards,

      Allan-----

NO Corvette small blocks with N-40 EVER used a power steering pump double groove pulley of ANY construction. ALL small block power steering pump pullies were single groove----from 1963 right through 1982. A single groove, cast iron pulley was used for some 63-74 small block applications. However, I believe that your application used a single groove, stamped steel pulley.

As far as the harmonic balancer, PS pump DRIVE pulley is concerned, it is somewhat smaller in OD than the 2 groove crankshaft pulley that it is "sandwiched to" in your application. The P/S drive pulley is 6-11/16" OD and your rear crankshaft pulley should be 7-21/64" OD.

The 2 groove, cast iron power steering pump pulley was used for all 65-74 Corvette big blocks with power steering.

Gentlemen, Thanks! I took a ride to LICS today and they were most helpful. They looked up my applications and brought out to the counter the correct Pulleys. I now have everything corrected as per your Specs. Joe, and will just need to buy new belts in the A.M.. Being a former Machinist I asked if I might see their Machine Shop and Warehouse, and they obliged. Nice setup with many worker Bees making cool Corvette stuff. They even have an 80 Ton Stamping Press! Thanks to all, Al W.
