    72 LT-1

i am looking at a 72 lt1. the block is correct but i am not sure about the heads. did the 72 lt1 use double hump heads? the marking on the heads on the car looks like the top of a crown with 3 points. correct?

1970 was the last use for the cylinder head "double hump" casting symbol. 1971-72 LT-1 (as well as many other applications) used a casting symbol that I would describe as a triangle with a "chopped off" top, otherwise known as a trapezoid.

I suppose it could be described as having 3 points on the top.

a better way to describe it is a triangle with 2 steps on one side. do the 71 72 base 350 heads have the same markings as the lt1 heads?

The 73 L-82 has what I call three pointed mountains like you describe but I do not know if it was used in 72.

Hey M., why don't you just take the valve-covers off and get the casting numbers and build dates and that should answer your questions.

You should be able to look thru the oil fill hole on the driverside to see a casting number, date code and the guide plates.
