    Fan Clutch

I am restoring a '65 small block and need to know who is selling an acceptable fan clutch?. Is the GM thermostatic replacement sold in most of the catalogs good both in function and in judging (function is primary) or is some other units available?. Many thanx in advance. P.S. I am having a ball restoring this car and it has won many trophy's so far this year.

    John----

The current GM replacement fan clutch for 1960-1970 models, GM #3916141, is the closest to the original fan clutch in configuration, although there are some slight differences. Also, in my opinion, it is the best available unit with respect to function which is a DIRECT FIT for your application. There are considerably better 71+ GM fan clutches, but these would require modifications to your fan system and additional parts to retrofit to your car. And, their configuration would be considerably different than the 3916141.

Fred Oliva(sp) does VERY good correct rebuilds. I have one and its perfect. He 'listens' to the NDB. Maybe he'll respond.

Roger ps; I lost his address
