I have an 86 Convertible that has a loud rattle near the rear of the driver's seat. I found that one of the top frame support linkage bolts had broken, and I thought that was the problem. I removed the linkage, and the top still worked fine, but the rattle was still there. I've looked everywhere, but I can't find the source of the rattle. I am wondering if the head of the bolt that broke may me in the area of the rear fender well, and is causing the problem. I can't find any way to get into this area, and I can't see in the area well enough to locate the bolt head. Has anyone had this problem, or may know what I can do nexr?

Re: 86 Convertible Top Question
I had an 87, but I can't remember the configuration of the top or the body attachment. Try a magnetic fishing tool inside the body; if you're lucky the loose piece is metallic and small enough to be extracted with the tool.
The only complication is that the tool is dumb and doesn't know which metal is supposed to be inside there and which is not...if there are any metallic structural parts in the area, you'll have to keep overcoming the magnets affinity for anything made of steel that belongs inside.- Top
