    C1 My 59 Folding Top Front Weatherstrip is Short?

    Hi,

    I've restored my original 59 folding top window weatherstrips and recovered with bowdrill cloth tape. I just checked the fronts, and they're about 1" short at the frontmost end heading towards the door post. I'm confused. I removed them 15 years ago and replaced with the later type(with retainers), but now I want to go back to original. I cannot remember what was there. The end appear to have had something glued to them originally as there's still some glue residue, or is there a special piece on the top of the doorpost I'm missing?

    Here are some photos before I reclothed them. The 2 w/strips on the right side of the photos are the ones I'm talking about. 2nd photo bottom right is the front end of the w/strips.

    Thanks Again.....
    Rich Mozzetta

      Geoffrey,

      I think the wedges are for the front bow, between the front bow and the front bow w/s, at the outermost corners? My 62s' original top has them that way.

        Uh oh

        My error for not reading the entire query, and honestly I did not look at the pics. When you wrote "59 folding top front" I throught front, instead of the side weatherstrip. You were thinking front to rear side and I was thinking side to side front - and therein lies - A GAP - for which I have no solution. I'll try to read further, but my attention span is shorter than your gap.
        AADS = A(dult) ADS

        I had 2 59's but I either forgot the answer, or cannot remember the question. Joe Malicke may have an answer.

                Geoffrey Thanks! But I don't have a need to be some one here, I may post a pic now and then in response to a question and they can make up their own minds.Your one of the few that know what I mean and I'm not PO'ed, I do read the forum but answer some by E-mail if I think I can help.

                  Ah!!!!! There it is. Thanks Roy. I didn't check the forum till this second as it usually sends me an email if someone responds to my original post. Didn't think about if a response goes to someone elses post.....

                  Ok....Now I see, it's coming back to me. Roy your photo is perfect! Thank You! Yes, 15 years ago when I redid my top I now recall there was a one piece front w/s with extensions glued into the front side w/s's. The side w/s's had no cloth on them then and never realized until a post a while ago.

                  So it looks like I'm going to have to fabricate the extensiosn myself and cover it with the bowdrill cloth. I'm glad I got extra.

                  Thanks Everyone,
                  Rich Mozzetta(getting very obsessed over this stuff :-)
