I have my '65's motor out being rebuilt and the trans in my garage. Can I hook up all the linkage/rods (from the stick)on the tranny in their appropriate positions before installing rather than when I'm underneath the car ? I took all the linkages off off prior to removing the motor then the trans, but am now not sure I even had to.
Also, how tough is it to put the trans/engine back into the car as an assy. Would rather do this than do the trans then the motor.
If the shifter bolts to the transmission, install it and check the adjustment while the transmission is on the garage floor as this eliminates the need to do this underneith the car after the motor is installed. As far as motor instalation, it's your choice I think there is plenty info in the archives from others that have installed engine/trans together and they use a load leveler to tilt the engine going in.
