    Mystery Motor

I am looking for information on the Mark 2 Mystery motor project that took place around 1962/1963. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Seems like there was a post some time ago about someone that owns a mystery motor display engine?

Post, e-mail or call me at 479-435-1855

    Re: Mystery Motor

Joe, there is a mystery motor at Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum in Sevierville, TN. I believe that it is one of the Smokey Yunick engines. There is another in the # 3 Holly Farms car that Jr. Johnson owns. Here is a picture of one that is in the Tom McIntyre collection

I just talked to Tom McIntyre yesterday. He is gone Vintage Racing in Seattle June 29-July 1 and then Portland, OR the following weekend July 6-8. He won't be home until the 9th.

He will be happy to fill you in on the MYSTERY MOTOR 427. He owns the #3 Mickey Thompson Z0-6 car that raced Daytona in Jan 63 with this engine.

                Joe,

Pictures I took at 2002 Historic Races at Laguna Seca.

The engine is quite small, like a small block with shrunken big block heads on it.

Was there a casting number on the intake used on this engine? Were different intakes used?

the problem with the first of these engines was the tappet bosses in the block were inline like a SBC not on 2 different angles like the later design and this caused valve train problems.
