This is a two part question.
First, I'm replacing my shift boot. The retainer bolts are steel, convex, with a plain slot. They look "in situ", pretty rusted and painted over. Four are unsalvageable. Looking in catalogues (LIC & Paragon), they show black Phillip's head bolts. Which would be correct for a December 2, 1964 assembly date?
Second, two of the bolts I haven't been able to back out yet. I let them soak overnight in WD-40, but rust has eaten away the top shoulders of the slots to get much of a grip. I've got a good, extra long handled screw driver that gives plenty of torque, but so far, no go. Do you guys have any tips? I would hate to drill and tap. Any help much appreciated!
