Re: The distinction lies in the fine print...

I have my policy from Farm Bureau in front of me. It clearly states the following. Payment for Loss: Payment Basis of Actual Cash Value, Stated Amount Value or Repair or Replacement Cost as INDICATED in the declarations. What is indicated in my dec sheet is the Stated Amount. Further along under Stated Amount Limits it states : The Stated Amount Limit is the limit you and we ageed to at policy inception or subsequent date. I have carefully re read all of the stipulations and it agrees with my inital assesment that if I or somebody totals the car or it is stolen etc I will be paid the STATED AMOUNT less the deductible. So for S&G I called Farm Bureau home office NOT my agent to ask just what this means. I was told directly that if the policy had a STATED VALUE then in case of loss etc Farm Bureau would pay me the stated value on the dec sheet less the deductible. I asked again is there any wiggle room to back out on the stated value and use ACV and was told no the stated value is just that, the stated value. I dont' know how to make it any clearer that when you insure your car with Farm Bureau as a stated value car you will get paid that amount. If you have any questions call Farm Bureau home office and ask the same questions. I know it is hard to believe the price but it is what it is. Also if there is a question my car has full coverage not just comp and collision and the price is $49.49 per year. I live in Nebraska so prices will vary by state and may not be available in all states. Just my experience your mileage may vary. GL

          GL,

I just happened to find that picture on eBay today between reading posts. I spit on my keyboard when I clicked on it. It was so perfect, you should by it and hang it next to your policy. LOL.
I have 21 Century on my Corvette in CA. My policy says about the same thing as yours. I was totally happy with the outcome of a very bad wreck. The best part was I met and had my car referbushied by Jerry Bramlett from a correspondence about a Corvette in Burbank on this board. I have my fingers crossed I've had my one. But to bring us all into reality heres pictures from a post on vetteheads.com last week.

          Kevin

Going home from "cruise in" accident. Mine was a lady turned left in front of me, "didn't see you".

                      Re: Where are you located?

Jack I am in Wahoo. We used to have the Chevy dealership here and sold all the Shrine Corvettes plus many more. My cell phone number is 402-443-9198 if you need anything. I was around at the start of NCRS as John Amgwert was a friend I had know since he was in high school. Thanks GL

                        Re: Where are you located?

The painter (Jeff Petersen) of my 1963 lives in Wahoo. His shop is in Malmo.
He restored a 1974. If you see an orange convertible around, it's probably him. Very rare car as it also has factory air. If you ever have a question about fixing a paint problem, he's the guy to go to.

Thanks for your help on this thread.

                            Jack,

The Insurance industry works in mysterious ways.....but I'll tell you one thing for sure.....he's not "your insurance agent." He's an agent of the Insurer. He does not represent you in the transaction....he represents the Insurer. If you choose to use an "Insurance Broker" then, and only then, do you have someone representing you and your needs/requirements when you want to buy an insurance policy. "Insurance Brokers" know the differences between policy forms and how each form and Insurer responds to a loss....and usuing an "Insurance Broker" may or may not cost a little more than dealing with a direct writer or their agent.

Jack tell ya what, if you want to go for a Sunday drive come out and I will give you a copy of my entire policy and you can take it to whoever you feel comfortable with to review it. I will also give you the phone numbers of Farm Bureau home office in Des Moines so you can call and ask the very same questions I asked. I understand those that just can't believe they are paying 5-10 times more for collector car insurance with all the restrictions involved and that Farm Bureau sounds like some Ag related company that couldn't possibly do what they do but I will assure you I have had my collector cars with then for over 20 yrs and have had that one claim that was very easily resolved. In this case it may sound too good to be true but it is. GL

I'm going to be asking more questions this week. I can let you know how it turns out.
