    C2:67 P/S leaky ram-the real culprit

Thanks to all who responded to my post this past week about my leaky power steering ram and efforts to replace it. Gave up on getting it off the relay rod and took it to a shop.

It wasn't the the ram at all, but one of the extender/retractor lines. The culprit is in the picture. I guess it was rubbing on something.

So my 67 spent the eve of her 40th birthday in the shop. But tommorrow, her June 29, 1967 birthday, we will do the town with a new ram (detailed correctly) and 2 new retractor/extender lines.

Asked them how they got the ram off the car and it sure sounded like Chuck Rice's solution. Thanks, Chuck.

Now I have a ram to overhaul(whether it needs it or not) and maybe do a story on.

    Having fun,

Jerry, amazing what 40 years of constant friction will do! Or on the other hand, look how well the hose held up considering the many years of abuse. Glad you will be back on the road in time for the birthday cruise. See you in Boston.
    Best regards,
    Charlie

That's not a 40 year old hose, but does looks like it didn't criss cross just as shown in the AIM.

        Geoffrey and Jerry-----

        Also, I don't think that it's a GM-sourced hose. The crimps don't look like any GM-sourced hose I've seen.

It's not an original hose, a replacement about 4 years old. I guess I'll be checking for that criscross. Tanks for the info.

Are the Paragon ones like the GM sourced ones?

              Jerry,

I'd bet the Paragon ones are the exact same ones you can but at any local auto parts store (I just checked - under $20 at Napa). I'm not sure it's worth paying for shipping on this part, at all, despite the fact that I like to buy from Paragon.
