    89 U-Joints.

Would anyone know the Spicer U-joint part numbers for my 89 Automatic Transmission Corvette. The 2 drive shaft and 4 half shaft numbers would be very much appreciated. I can't find them anywhere....and are they with or without grease fittings....thanks for the help.

    Rick-----

Originals were the "lubed-for-life" style with no grease fittings. Spicer numbers are as follows:

    driveshaft:

    greaseable---DT467
    "Snap Tite"----5-626X

    half shaft:

    greaseable---DT447U or 5-447X
    "Snap Tite"----5-617X

    I THINK that the "Snap-Tite" are "lubed-for-life".

GM part numbers are as follows:

    driveshaft----GM #14067678

    half-shaft-----GM #12522048

The above are usually Spicer-manufactured, lubed-for-life type u-joints.

          Rick-----

If you get them from GM they are definitely not inexpensive. They are a LOT less from Spicer dealers. However, I'm not sure that the parts available from Spicer are identical to the parts they supply to GM. Plus, the Spicer OEM style joints (i.e. the "lubed for life" type) are a lot more expensive than the type with grease fittings.

Most of the Spicer OEM style "lubed for life" u-joints have forged powder metal bodies. These are VERY strong pieces. The greaseable, aftermarket style have conventional forged bodies.

            Joe,

I tried Napa up here in Montreal, with the GM part numbers, but they said they could not get them. I'm close to upstate NY and Vermont, any other suppliers I could try....thanks for the help.
