What are the indicators that a car was originally a big block. I am going to look at a car that has a big block hood and a high RPM tach but a 350 engine. The owner of 35 + years claims that he replaced the engine over 25 years ago when the original was ruined. I know there is a difference in the half shafts but not sure what else to look for. Was the 435 horse the only engine in 67 with the high RPM (6500)tach?

Re: 67 Big Block ID
Evidence of a rear swaybar.
Copper radiator and appropriate core support except L88.
No holes in inner fender for expansion tank. Dimples would be present.
Left hand hood support. No holes on right fender support area.
435's and L88 had Transistor Ign, high rpm tach 6500 redline and 80# oil pressure. Check code on back of instruments for LB in red for 435/L88.
Large 1/2 shafts and unique yokes and differential codes are unique.- Top

"No holes in inner fender for expansion tank. Dimples would be present."
Would that apply to a 1968 435hp car as well?
