I bought a Holley 3810 carb for my 67 small block from a fellow member and noticed some strange markings on it as i disassembled it. Seems like it had a rebuild at some point in the past since the throttle shafts were bushed and some of the gaskets are the newer type. The previous rebuilder stamped the letter "H" (3/16" char.) in at least 10 places. i.e metering plate throttle body, bowls etc. Was (is) this done by one of the major commercial rebuilders like Holley ? Is it normal to see this on previously rebuilt carbs ? Thanks in advance. JD in NYC #19684

Re: Holley 3810 carb. marking
John, I have seen internal and external markings with various Holley carbs(3810 3811 3660 3559) and they varied dramatically based on who put them there. On one tripower setup the main body was marked ,as well as the corresponding throttle plate, with a series of dots made with a center punch and hammer; I assume that this practice is to make sure the parts that came off the carb are the ones that go back on..Regards, Kieran- Top
