Hello,
I wanted tor replace the air cleaner foam and screen by a paper air cleaner (Harrison for all 63-65 250-300hp, ordered at Corvette Central) on my '65 300hp Corvette with Carter AFB 3721. The paper cleaner is thicker and thus I can't put the wing nut on, because the stud doesn't look out of the cover enough. The question is:
Should the shorter thread side of stud be screwed in the carb body or the longer one. In the AIM it seems that's the shorter one but this is not possible on my carb. The stud doesn't grasp in this case, only when the longer thread side is used. The stud seems to be the correct one compared with the pic on corvette central online.
Regards
Oliver
