Has anyone seen a detail kit avaiable for 1973?
There are several sources for 72 and older.

Steve, the only advantage of the "chassis detailing kits" is that they collect more than enough materials to restore markings that you find on your car, and charge you high prices for the basket. If you depend on one of these kits to tell you WHAT MARKINGS should be on your chassis, they are much less useful for that purpose in my opinion.

Attempting to place markings on your car that are described by instructions in one of these kits is (1) less than honest, and (2) inaccurate in most cases. The instruction sheet may describe a single car, or even if it's several cars, it's still not YOUR car.

If you find faint shim markings written in white lumber crayon, then buy yourself a white lumber crayon and replicate the marks; if you find lavender paint smeared on a spindle, then buy the small bottle of lavender paint (it's sold separately) and get after it...in either case, replication should be during a restoration when the original marks will be lost. In my opinion, most of the stuff in these kits won't fit your car, and ends up un-used.

If you don't find any marks, then I suppose that simulating the marks would be better than nothing, but it can backfire on you; e.g. mount has no shims...is the appropriate mark a zero("OH"), or...nothing (judges know the answer depending on the model year). But...putting ALL the possible markings, paint daubs, etc. described in those instruction sheet will be a mistake because ALL the cars didn't get ALL the marks.

And, no, I don't know if there is a chassis detail kit for a 73, but if I was naive enough to think I needed one, I would buy a 72 kit...the guys building the 73s were the same ones building the 72s, and they went to work the first day of 73 production just like they did the last day of 72 production. These chassis markings had a meaning to the guys building these cars, and MOST LIKELY, they still meant the same thing on the first day of 73 production that they did in 72.

I have the frame numbers I got off some 73 frames and I think they are correct but they were hard to read. This is what I think they are.

330960-150 Four speed frame

330970-100 Automatic frame

3921675 Driveshaft number

For the body shims all I have seen is white vertical marks for the number of shims.
