The one on the left is a 1968 wheel.

the left image is actually a 68 vette ...but the steering is identical as my early 69 vette

            Frank------

All 1969's originally used the steering wheel shown on the right in your photos. I really doubt that there were any exceptions, even for early cars. The 1968 and 1969 steering columns were completely different. 1968 used a steering column very similar to 1967. For 1969, the column changed and the same basic design was used through 1976.

Part of the reason that a 68 steering wheel would not have seen use on a 69 was that the steering wheel was one of the many 68 mistakes. Anyone of more that average size had a hard time getting into the car. The 69 wheel was one inch smaller in diameter.

And there are some of us that have problems with diameter of the '69 wheel being to large

Dicky, I changed the wheel in my 68 to a later model plus have dropped 30 pounds, works wonders for driver comfort!
