Hello, I bought a 1959 driver 2 years ago that was converted to an altenator with a 1963 style voltage regulator. The car drove fine. When I restored my interior, dash etc, I removed and installed a new wiring harness. Since I was not going to restore the engine and compartment this year, I wanted to get it running for this season. Not thinking, I bought a 59 style ( 3 connector) voltage regulator to replace the beat up 63 style (4 connector). I spliced the 59 regulator harness to fit on the small two connector plug which fits into the back of the altenator which is labeld F & A. I hooked it up to the voltage regulator marked Fld, Arm into the plug and snaped it into the back of the altenator. I grounded the regulator to the altenator post and hooked up my red ammeter wire to the battery post on the altenator. The car fired up, lights worked, turn signals etc....I was very proud I had installed an entire wiring harness. Here is my problem: The battery is not receiving a charge from the altenator. So I have now purchased a new 1963 style 4 connector voltage regulator and a new altenator but I can't figure out the connections on the regulator. It is labeld F, 2, 3, 4. I assume the F is the field but the three numbers are a mystery to me. (Oh yes, I tossed the old hook-up diagram I made before I removed the first 63 style voltage regulator, thinking I no longer needed it.) How do I re-hook the new 63 style Voltage regulator to the new Delco 63 style altenator using my 59 wiring?? The person I bought the car from had done it and I am not as good a mechanic. Thank you,
Tim Allen
