Hello.
I was given this site from quite a few people that highly recommended it for helping me with my problem. I recently acquired a 1970 L-46 Corvette and had some questions pertaining to the placement of the VIN stamp. This vehicle is the first instance that I've come across where both the Partial VIN and Date/Engine codes were not stamped on the plate at the front of the block. I have my Date/Engine code (V1218CTH)stamped into the right hand side of the block plate, but nothing is stamped onto the left hand side.
And I found the Partial VIN stamped into the oil filter area.
So I asked a question on www.corvetteforumns.com, which you can see the link to below, inquiring as to why these were stamped this way. My first response was that this was the style of Camaro stamping in 69. So I found a website with some info on that:
And the Link to my original post:

So at this point, I'm looking to confirm that this is infact something that happened from the factory for the Corvettes so that I don't have to worry about this not being the correct engine for this car. The block stamp is located at the read of the engine where the tranny mounts to it and that is 3970010.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Patrick
