    Knock Off Spinner removal tool

Has anyone used the tool available at Corvette Central to remove knock off spinners? Just wondering if they really work and are worth the $267.75. I am getting tired of using the knock off hammer.

David, I am not trying to take away business from anyone but here is another source for you. Prices I am giving are about 3 yrs old from McMaster-Carr
Overall wt: 6-1/2 lbs, face diam 1-3/4", Overall lg. 10/5/8" 23.00 plus

    11 lbs 2" 27" wow 41.00 plus
First class lead hammers cheap. Also they have kits to make your own because lead is soft and doesn't last. Kits are comprised of the molds and the handles.
The 11 lbs one is known as a sledge. Go for it. It's a real weapon.
609-689-3000 McMaster-Carr. I was using catalog #110. Catalogs are hard to get from them though. I buy a lot of good stuff from them using credit cards. Good luck, John D.

Save the lead hammer for emergencys. Use a dead blow to get them snug then lay a 2 X 4 on the spinner and bump it home with a 5# short handle steel sledge. Too easy.

I've never used the tool by the way. Never thought it was useful.

Michael, That's the way I did it for many years. Big hammer and blocks of wood. Used to make kindling that way. I hated those knockoffs in the olden days. Would rather have steel rims any old day. John

Thanks John and Mike. I am currently using the 2x4 method. I thought there might have been an easier way.

I've been using a section of PVC thick wall pipe and 4lb hammer of late, seems to work well. The wood method, ran out of hardwood - so tried the PVC. Any comments on this method?

I've used the PVC pipe too. It works well but it doesn't like impact sometimes. Especially an old piece or when it gets cold.
