    electrical

I have a 1966 327 300 hp automatic when starting yesterday morning I had a large backfire and the car went dead. when trying to restart she would crank but no luck. I found no spark to the # 1 cylinder and checked everything back to the coil. Discovered no spark from coil changed coil and still no luck. I jumped the neutral safety switch and still nothing. When cranking i am getting 12volts to coil. Any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Bill

Check to see if the distributor is turning. Possible to have pin in distributor sheared, timing chain broken, Rotor button could be broken, bad distributor cap, many things fit this senario. I would check the cap and rotor first.
