C3 hub surface to caliper clearance

Does anyone know what the clearance dimension is from the rim mounting surface on the hub to the outside caliper body on a 70s vette?? I'm trying to get a handle on what it takes to clear the caliper body before I order any aftermarket rims. Vintage Wheel makes a model called the V45 which specifies 5/8" between the mounting surface and the spokes. I doubt that this rim will fit since I've had someone tell me the clearance should be at least 7/8" or more. Maybe I read something wrong or it's necessary to use spacers (sounds dangerous). BTW, my car is in a shop far away, so I can't verify the dimension myself.

Don if you contact Vintage Wheel with your selection they should be able to tell you if it will fit your 1970 Corvette. Also check out the Corvette Forum for C3's and C2's for what others have on their cars. Several users of after market wheels visit the site. Another place for viewing is Tire Rack.
