I've got upper and lower oil dipstick guides for my '62 327 motor. It's obvious how the upper one attaches to the block. But how does the lower one attach?
I'm thinking it goes in from below - from the crankcase side. But when you insert it from below, it bumps into the upper guide. Then I notice that the lower guide's OD is just under that of the ID of the upper guide. Is the lower dipstick guide an interference fit with the upper dipstick guide? That doesn't make sense. That means that if you pulled the upper guide out, the lower one would fall into the oil pan.
