    Glass installation

I am getting ready to install the windshield, rear window and side wing glass on a 63 SWC.
In the AIM it shows where the sealer is going to be.( body surface and seal, seal and SS reveal trim)
I am wondering, if any sealer should be applied to the ouside glass, just inside the seal around the entire window. When I removed the glass, there was sealer on the ouside surface of the glass and edge, between the glass and the seal, but no sealer on the inside glass surface. Could it be, sealer was installed afterwards ?
In the AIM it does not show the sealer. It shows sealer only between the body frame and seal and between the seal and reveal trim.
Also, where can I buy the seal between the glass and the SS frame on the triangular wing glass on door ?
I am planning to have the main windshield installed by a profecional glass installer (Farmington, Mi) Any recomedations ?

    Rainer -

Sealing compound was used between the glass and the seal; it was applied to the groove in the seal before the seal was applied to the glass, AND a secondary application of 409 sealer was done after the windshield was installed, with a sealer nozzle, between the outer side of the glass and the seal, before the reveal moldings were assembled.

The sealer application in the seal groove is shown in your A.I.M. in Section 1, Sheet B13.00, View "B", item #5.

      Thanks, John.
That clarifies it. I know, you are local, near Farmington.
Would you be able to recommend a glass installer, who makes housecalls ?

Cool picture! Does this mean the front window was installed before the pillar post and the door bonding strips were installed??

          Greg -

On a '63 (only), the door front pillar was covered by an applied stainless reveal molding; it was removed for '64, when the door outer skin was revised to cover that area, with a bonding strip riveted to the door inner panel.
