    1964 Radio Capacitor Help

    Hi all,

I need help with determining what type connector ends should be attached to these black wires coming from my radio capacitor and more importantly where it connects to. This capacitor was removed from my lower steering column bracket earler today and unfortunatly over time someone or something has did the dirty work on this item. I looked all through the AIM and found nothing regarding this unit and no parts houses make reference as well. If anyone could provide a photo showing the correct connectors as well as were it's suppossed to be connected to I would be forever grateful. I was told this is most probably for my brake pedal assembly.

    Thanks,

    Craig

Craig: On my '65 I have a similar capacitor on the pedal bracket. It's part of the radio static suppression system which should be depicted in the radio option section of the AIM. It should show the connection points. It's there to eliminate a "pop" when the brake lite switch makes/breaks.

I agree, look in your AIM under portions for U69 and check out the capacitor page, the capacitor on the brake pedal is for the brake pedal switch I think, I cannot remember the connector but it is in the AIM.

Section U69, Sheet 6.00, illustration at the upper right. The "flags" on the capacitor wires are inserted into the female connectors that plug onto the spade terminals on the stop light switch.
