Re: 1967 a/c hose clamps
Lou - The 67 TIM&JG indicates that "observed original clamps are manufactured by Murray." My statement would be that other observed original clamps are made by IDEAL CORP, HY GEAR, B'KLYN 7, NY. Anyway you have to deal with what the judge's interpertation is; but if your clamps have the IDEAL CORP HY GEAR logo as stated they are another brand used on Corvette AC systems in 67. Pete- Top

I have to agree with Peter...
The text in the JG does NOT prohibit the use of another supplier's equivalent clamps. It simply says, subject to small sample statistical skew, that observed original (how many cars????) Corvettes had the Murray brand....
On purchased part items like these clamps it was almost always GM policy NOT to single source a part/supplier. If a given part was 'critical' and needed the visibility of performance in the field, GM would issue different PN's for the different suppliers and you'd see an [OPT] designation in the PN section of the AIM drawing.
If the part wasn't critical, then multiple suppliers were qualified for the application under the same GM PN and were binned together, mixed, in inventory stores. I've pulled original AC hose clamps off various scrap yard cars (of course, it's rare that you find a Corvette in a scrap yard) and have FREQUENTLY seen a mixture of Ideal and Murray clamps on the same vehicle...- Top
