    Re: electrical question

Is it possible that the headlight switch is bad if the headlights work but dont get any other lights.I posted earlier that i have no tail lights or marker lights but the headlights do work.I have checked all the wires and found nothing.I used a meter and have continuity at each light..Kinda lost at this point

    Re: electrical question

Not sure what model you are working on, but most the tail lamps and dash lamps are on the same fuse. You have checked the fuse haven't you? See if you have power on both sides of the fuse when the light switch is on. If you do you have wiring problems. The only two connections are on the switch and the firewall bulkhead connector.

It's a 'stretch' for the HL switch to be bad...

But, it could happen although I've NEVER seen this fault before. Inside the HL switch are two independent switch paths that track in parallel with a single movement of the switch actuating rod.

I guess it's possible for one side of the switch to be faulty while the other side works. But, you'd know if this was the case quickly from simply probing the harness wires (voltmeter to ground with positive lead attached to a push pin inserted through the insulation of the rear lamp output wires).

Bottom line, there's no need to guess and if electrical trouble shooting is over your head, most major metro areas have competent auto electric shops. PLUS, Mr. Goodwrench is STILL in business....

I am not totally inept at electrical but i am just so frustrated.I think i have checked just about everything. The only thing that i am not sure of is ..did i find all the grounding points. The switch was just an after thought.
