    C1 question: mirrors

Is there any chance that a '59 could have come off the factory line with a mirror on the passenger door?

      Re: Chance: Yes... Odds: 0

One of the XP-700's had it, but that's the only one I've seen so far. Well, that and my car. Guess it's time go back to the body shop. It's funny that in two years of owning my car, and studying Corvettes, I had never even noticed it was out of place except for it being useless while driving. It took someone to point it out to me.

Dave, I do believe it was a GM dealer...

...option, and understand why quite a few new car buyers might want one...

I didn't mean to imply that an XP-700 came off the factory line.

Dave: Your car came from Minnesota; and years back if you had eyesight problems, you were required to have a passenger side mirror on your car. I believe that one of the previous owners qualified for this situation. Sincerely, Mark

              Re: C1 question: mirrors

There was an unrestored 1956 for sale at this years Kissimmee vender field that had both drivers and passenger side mirrors. The passenger side mirror was not a drivers side mirror mounted on the passenger side but a correct right side mirror with contoured base facing in.. Factory? Don't know.

                  Thanks.

I just received my "Corvette Judging Reference Manual" yesterday afternoon. In reading it last night I see there is a section that addresses this very matter. It says "...a small deduction will be made for any Chevrolet dealer installed accessory, such as luggage rack, right hand rear view mirror, etc..."

I wonder what "small" means? Maybe I should just leave the mirror on.
