Balsa wood or matting

I was in a recent discussion with a person that said that he wasn't sure what years, but he assumed everyone knew that Corvettes uses a balsa wood or balsa wood matting sandwiched in the fiberglass for sound purposes. I am not familiar with the '84 or newer Corvettes, but when did this start?

1997 was the first year, I think.

Yep............ 97 was the first year. he process continues today.

It was my understanding that the balsa wood was sandwiched between aluminum sheets not fiberglass in the 97 and up cars. Did I remember right or wrong?

It was (and continues to be) used only in the floorpan.
