    Hidden VIN?

I've heard that the Corvette VIN is stamped somewhere on the frame and can't be seen unless the body is removed. Is this true? If so, exactly where is it located?

    Any insight will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

The answer is true--but will vary from generation to generation. What year Corvette do you have--we need to know that before we can give you much of an answer.

These locations are on a 67 coupe frame:

The one on the rear frame body mount #4 can possibly be seen using lights and mirrors.......
The one under the door needs the body to be lifted above the frame for access

1972 are under the driver's door sill and about over the rear axle on the driver's side. Same story about visibility as the 1967.

I read the vin on a '67 my ex had with very little difficulty. I had to remove the rocker moulding and after a little wiping I found it with help of a mirror and light.
