    C1 - Oil dipstick tube

The oil dipstick tube for a 61 sent by Paragon is argent silver. An older NCRS resto article has it black for a 60. Is a correct 61 Oil dipstick tube argent silver or black?
    Thanks,
    Ron

I've always wondered about that. I don't disagree with the JG because I don't know. Why would the tube be different from the rest of the engine? Does that mean that the tube was installed after the engine was painted at Flint?

Thats what I thought. Then why does Paragon send them argent silver?

Probably so they don't rust and then have people complaining. Until recently (and perhaps you still can) you could purchase the natural steel, unpainted tube directly from your Chevy parts man.

Ron, Did you look in the AIMS for the part number? I think Chevy still sells them cheap. I bought one for my 63. One thing I learned the hard way is you shouldn't use those things over. Once you pull them out they are history unless you glue them back in. As of about two months ago the tubes were still available. Maybe JL has the part number if you can't find it.
I didn't read all the posts which is usual-maybe someone already told you the number. JD

                  Chris -

The upper dipstick tube was installed on the engine dress line at St. Louis.
