C2 1965 early or late model

I keep seeing part requiements for my 1965 list as either early or late model.

Is the designation simply the half way point of vin numbers or is there a general consensus on a vin cut off that separate the two.

My vin is :194675s113681

Chris,

Late or early is a relative term and will not likely coincide with the middle of a model year. Configuration prior to the running change would be considered early, and configuration post running change would be considered late. That would be the case regardless if the car was built in the first months of production or the last months.

Sometimes the JG has information about approximate date and/or VIN when the change occurred. If you can post the specific part(s) in question, someone will likely respond. However, you may want to check the archives first as it will likely have been discussed in the past.

As Don states it depends on the part.

I can't speak to 65 model year changes but 66 has early or late windshield wiper arms, seat belts and cast valve covers to name a few.
