My brother would like to replace the ring and pinion in his 65 with a set of 3:55's. Is OEM still available or must he go aftermarket as in a Richmond or other manufacturer? If aftermarket, will noise be a factor? Thanks.

All GM ring and pinion gearsets for 1953-79 Corvettes are long-since GM discontinued. You may find NOS on eBay or at swap meets, but you can't get them from a GM dealer.
Several aftermarket brands are available. For a most-like-stock GM gearset, I recommend those manufactured by U.S. Gear. U.S. Gear does not sell direct nor inventory these parts. They manufacture to a minimum order size (large!) for gear retailers. One source that usually has these in stock is Tom's Differential (www.tomsdifferentials.com).In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
