    1969 sunvisor replacement

I purchased two new sunvisors for my 1969 coupe and have no idea how to transfer the support hardware over from the old visors to the replacements; anyone have any suggestions or step by step instructions?

The original hardware appears to be held in place by some sort of clip but, the clips are too far into the visor to really get a good idea of what else might be involved in making the swap.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Dave

Visors are attached to the windshield frame via two pivot brackets, one at each side of the visor. Remove the pivot bracket attaching screws and the visor assy drops into your hand.

Each pivot bracket simply 'inserts' into the visor via interference fit. Swivel the pivot bracket as you pull it out of the visor (can be stubborn) and re-install the pivot brackets in your replacement visors.

No clip, just an interference fit with a stamped spring steel piece attached to the fiberboard in the visor. The hardware is the pivot rods which are about 3" long and push in from each end. Perhaps you are replacing the visor because the pivots seized and broke the interior structure of the visor. You should be able to twist and pull the pivot rod out. If it's seized it my be hard but they do come out that way. I use a little Vaseline on mine to keep them operating smoothly.

Also note the correct positioning of the visor if you have the 1st design. I see them installed wrong all the time. Early builds, up to about October 23 used an angled visor. When flipped up the outside edge is higher. The 2nd design is more rectangular and parallel with the window frame when all the way up.

Great stuff guys, thanks so much. Now I can complete my interior once and for all (minus the radio).
