Re: Mike Hunt
I started corresponding with Mike starting some 25 years ago about our common interest in 56/57 Corvettes. He was the go to guy for anything and everything to do with these cars. My earlier letters related to Corvettes that I had in the past as well as currently owned. It wasn't until about 15 or so years ago we realized that I owned a 57 racer that Mike had owned back in the 70's. He told me he was sorry he'd ever let that one go, but he just had to have a big block. Every so often I would receive a letter or box with information or small parts that he would come upon while "cleaning up" that he knew had come off our car. He must have known how much pleasure it was for me to receive these little gifts of Corvette history. I would keep informed of the Corvettes current racing and he seemed to be truly delighted to know that it was still out on the track doing what it was built for. Recently I had reconnected with the original driver and had not gotten around to writing Mike. We do take for granite
that there is always plenty of time?
Mike was truly one of the good guys and I will miss those typewritten letters filled with both knowledge and wit.
