    Ignition Coil

    Trying to locate someone to rebuild? a 1972 BR270 coil..if not does anyone have a resource that sells these.

    If the coil is 'toast' on the inside, you're better off to simply discard and replace your original. You'll find BR-270 coils listed in various Corvette parts catalogs...

    Damage typically results from the coil losing internal cooling fluid (oil bath). Once that happens, the primary and secondary windings begin to overheat and 'melt'.

    Worse yet, you CAN have a situation where the primary and secondary windings of the transformer (that's what an ignition coil is...a step-up transformer)remain operable, but the transformer's core has delaminated due to excess heat. In that case, the efficiciency of primary to secondary energy transfer drops and the coil is pretty much 'shot'....
