    C2, T3 Headlights and Points

    Well its down to a few changes before National. I have all non DOT head lights now however the hi/low bulbs have some blue/black in them. These two also are not very bright either. So the decision;
    If I go with all NON Dot bulbs believe I get all 12 points?
    Will the 2 NON Dot bulbs which are dull loose points - how many? Assume I will loose points on the condition side, but how many?

    I have 2 Dot hi/low which are clear and bright, but how many points will these loose me, I know -1.5 on the originality side, but will it be zero on the condition side.

    Yes, did a search, but did not find this specfic answer.
    Thanks
    Alan

    Alan, Can't answer all your questions cause didn't all sink in. When I took my white 63 to Marlborough I was surprised to see that I got dinged one point because of the bulbs was a tad dark on top. Low beam naturally. Burned real nice but was dark. So I got a one dinger.
    You have to be careful Alan as you said two of the bulbs are not very bright. So you may get hit on ops and that will KILL you for sure.
    Just found my judging sheets. Headlights for 63-67. Item 12. 12 points on originality for all 4. 3 points for condition. So you can have all 4 original bulbs and then just get a slash. But if one is dark then you will get a one point deduct etc. So actually the condition of the bulb is a minor deduct. OPs failure is the pits.
    Go to your Judging reference Manual for standared deduction guidelines. Pg. 22
    No orig deducts for full set of matching sealed beam of correct brand, etc.
    But you can run a nice new set of Lectric Limited bulbs with the Dot marking and only get a 3 point deduction per car, for a full set.
    But knowing how fussy you are (me too) just put in some prestine originals. I just put a NOS low beam in my white car before our chapter show and removed a perfectly good working original because old BG didn't like it cause the top was dark. FInding NOS low beams are tough and major bucks. I am afraid to turn the damn things on too as they are about worthless you know. I saw some poor guy at Marlborough turn his lites on for ops and watched one of his bulbs smoke up big time. I felt bad for the owner. John
