Hello. I'm going to put new belts on our '75 L-48 and attempt to change the captive belt. My question is....After removing the fan assembly from the water pump hub, can the fan rest inside the shroud and still give you enough room to work on this belt? Or, does the small shroud extension have to come off and the fan removed? Thanks for any responses.

Re: C-3 Captive Belt
The only thing I know that was captive was the belt that needed replaced always was the first one put on so the other three belts held it captive. I have changed all four belts with the fan on but their is room for it to rest inside the shroud.

Re: C-3 Captive Belt
Yes Brian you can rest the fan inside the shroud on your 75' just like I did on my 75'. What you do now is take the fan hub off the water pump and put the new belt on the hub, and before you place the hub back onto the water pump, put the lower part of the belt onto the crank, then it becomes a little tight getting the hub back onto the water pump, but when it's done it's tight.
Good luck
