A friend called me and said that he had heard that there were a few corvettes that were made during the 2002 time frame that were built specifically for running on the Autobahn. I stated that I did not know, but that I would ask. Any information on this or is this just another fable?

Re: That's right up there with that immaculate 57
I just found in a barn just one hundred feet from my house.
And oh yeah, the elderly lady let me have it for $100.00 because I have an honest face
Myths and legends abound on this forum Pat, and it seems that new ones are spawned daily!

Re: And you BS detector did not go off?
Hi Pat,
Listen, back in the old days, didn't your town have a beautiful, blonde babe driving a white '68 Corvette, who used to show up at all the street racing spots (usually Friday nite, Sat nite) with a small sign hung from the rear license plate, reading "If you can beat me, you can eat me"?
Besides that, my '85 was built SPECIFICALLY for Loni Anderson. Of course, after a quick liaison with her, she gave it to me. Really. I'm gonna bring it to BJ with a 100K reserve, but for a "buy it now" price of..........

Re: Autobahn Corvette
All motor vehicles sold/licensed in Germany must meet the requirements of their safety agency, the infamous TUeV. A standard US/Canadian Corvette would not meet those specs without some modifications.
Possibly someone stretched/warped the story to make it sound like a factory effort to run cars just on the Autobahns.
I'll have to take my '83 big block over to see how easy it is to register.- Top

They were shipped via GM Canada...
We had the pleasure of running a test judging in LeMans with the pre-release of the '92-93 JG (no Flight Award made, just debug the book & score sheet) on a low milage 1992 Corvette that was an original European export car (delivered in Belgium). Interesting items surfaced...
While the new JG DOES detail the differences between the US domestic and Canadian delivered cars, there were various stickers/labels on the Belgium car that differed DRAMATICALLY from those shown in the JG for the US and for Canada! So, GM Canada WAS making changes to the cars to meet individual country requirements in Europe back then....- Top
