69 seat rail to floor bolt finish

What was the finish on these bolts? I was thinking black oxide or phosphate but then I saw a picture of a car not long ago and they were cad/zinc so I don't really know.

I plan to do a bunch of plating next week so I'm just trying to get all the parts in the right boxes before hand.

    Thanks again.

If memory serves, they were typically black oxide to 'blend in' with the cosmetics of the seat rails...

      I'd say dark gray/black phosphate:

        Patrick and Greg----

Yup! This is an original bolt and it's phosphate-coated just as it should be.

Black oxide and phosphate coatings are frequently confused, although they're distinctly different; black oxide was a very expensive finish for fasteners, and was almost never used for that reason. Don't know about C3's, but the only black oxide fasteners on a midyear are the five visible phillips oval-head cluster screws.

              Joe,

If you want, I'll show you the bolt in person tomorrow.
This particular one is the front outer driver's side, but the rest are the same.
