C2 Pinion id?

Anyone know how many splines on a 66 Corvette pinion? Thanks for any help in advance. Sincerely Brian

20 Spline

Front yoke will have "986" cast. The '64 and earlier are 14(?) spline and have a yoke with "823" cast.

Pinion on the left is a 1966 w/4.56 ratio; on the right is a '65 with 3.70 gears. Note the stepped design of the shaft, which is a carry-over from '64 and earlier; even though both are 30-splines.

Yes, those 20 spline pinion shafts are rare, indeed.
