    C3 Wheel Setback

I noticed my right front tire rubbed the fender while backing out of the driveway. I found that the right front has an additional inch setback over the left front what could cause this. Nothing looks abnormal.

I have no idea what you mean by "setback", but the C3 wheel dimensions are as follows:

    1968 - 15" x 7" x -0.28" offset
    1969-1982 - 15" x 8" x -0.50" offset

Offset is the industry standard measure of the distance the wheel mounting plane is "offset" from dead center between the insides of the two bead flanges. Negative offset means the rim is pushed outboard relative to the spider. The greater the negative offset the more the "deep dish" effect.

Say you have a '69-'82 Corvette wheel with a tire mounted. Lay it on a flat surface with the outside face of the wheel down. Lay about a 4' length of 2 x 4 across the sidewalls and measure the distance to the surface. Say this is 9.5".

Now measure between the 2 x 4 and the wheel mounting plane. It should be about 4.25".

    4.25 - 9.5/2 = -0.5"

If you measure both front wheels you will likely find either a difference in wheel width, offset, or both, and you can also check the wheels codes to be sure. The same tire size will measure about 0.4" greater overall width on a inch wider wheel, and, of course, you should check that both tires are the same size.

By set-back do you mean the wheel base is shorter on one side of the vehicle than the other?

Find a good hole on the under side of the frame and measure from that hole to the lower greese fitting on both sides . If its not the same take it to a body shop with a frame rack and have them measure it . also have the alignment checked . be sure to check the thrust angle .Bill
