    C2 Front Spindle Inspection Marks

My drives side spindle is marked with what now appears to be a teal dab (see photo). Quanta has not been able to match it to one of their colors. Any other fanatics out there?

Jim ---- I've never seen or heard of such a thing on front spindles. Sounds like it may have been introduced by a rebuilder at some point. Maybe others will chime in with their observations to explain what you have.

Kent...Nope...car is unrestored...but spindle may have been a factory replacement since ball joints, and upper a-arm were replaced on that side. As noted in my later updated post (oops...thought the first picture didnt post) the passenger side had a white dab in the same position.

Jim. I try to keep up with these inspection paint daubs for my year car. My '65 was built on July 29th. When was yours built? I just wonder if all paint daubs were used througout the entire year.

Tony...mine was also built late...around July 4. Can you share what markings you've noticed?

Jim take your part to a auto paint supply store and ask them to match it with acrylic enamel . many times the mixing colors will be very close without tinting. Dont worry about what other cars have . Match yours and take lots of pictures....Bill

I'm happy to, but I'll have to post them one at a time.

Here's the white and orange paint daubs on the left rear brake caliper.

There's also a remnant of an orange daub on the inner side of the left trailing arm. You can just see it in the photo.

Thanks Tony....BTW...do you have any front end documented markings. Curious to compare front spindle and tie rod markings.

No markings on my spindles, and I haven't cleaned the steering linkage yet. Once I get all the built up grease off of the steering linkage, I may find something there. I'll post if I do.

Thanks Tony....getting through the clean-up and break-down stage is the toughest...no doubt. This is especially true for me with my current project since it is a base "tweener" (somewhere between "bow tie" and just tired). Given the rear stabilizer...looks like you may have some payback since your dealing with a potentially high-end 396 car.
