Request info on directions to NCRS convention

Hello all, I actually thought this would be easy; however, the East Coast is a bit more challenging than the West coast.

I am currently in Melville NY on business and plan to make my way to Boston for the NCRS Convention. I have a limited amount of time and would greatly appreciate any information on the most cost effective and time efficient means to get to Boston (via Ferry or Freeway or both). Even the simplest of information is illusive, like the actual address of the convention.

    Can anybody help?

    Cheers,

    Don

Don, It's at the Best Western in Marlborough, MA. The hotel/center is on route 20.

From Boston you can take the Mass. Pike (Rt.90) west to route 495. Exit on 495 and go north to exit 24B (Rt 20). Take 20 west about 1 mile. It's on the right, lots of signs.

To get from Mellville NY (that's on Long Island for those who don't know) to Marlborough Mass, you have a few options. Likely the easiest and most cost-effective would be to rent a car, swing around the island over to Rt 95 North up to Boston (that you can do by either (1) driving West on the Long Island Expressway (495) to the Cross Island Prkwy and over the Whitestone Bridge and follow the signs for 95 North which you take up to 495 North when in Mass (495 swings by Marlborough) or (2) driving from Mellville over to Port Jefferson and take the Port Jeff ferry over to Bridgeport, CT, and hop on 95 North from there). The Port Jeff ferry is a nice ride, but to be honest, unless you are driving during a major traffic time, it is usually time-efficient to simply drive around.

You could also do the train thing: take the LIRR into Penn Station NYC, and then take Amtrack up to Boston, and then take a train out to Framingham (I don't think there is service to Marlborough, but Framingham is less than 10 miles away.)

Jack, It turns out that as you were typing, I was en route via ferry. Both the ferry ride and the drive on 95 to 91 to 90 were a breeze and I made it with ample time to walk the buildings three times as well as cover the Sportsman car parking as well. I met some great people and viewed some very impressive restorations. Although I was a bit disappointed with the number of '58's, I had a great time.

Thanx again for taking time to share the driving tips. I greatly appreciate the help. In the event that you are in the Northwest, don't hesitate to drop a line.

          Don

            2008 Convention

            Don,
Since next year is the "year of the '58" I predict there will be a lot of them in St. Louis (well really St. Charles) MO. Put the 2008 NCRS National convention on your to-do list.
