I bought a NOS antenna for my 64. Since I just removed my gas tank I can see that the cable end does not match the antenna connection. Is it easier to get a correct antenna cable or just cut the cable and put a radio shack antenna. How difficult is it to change the cable?

Re: radio antenna question
Changing the antenna cable isn't a HUGE job, but it's bigger than some expect. It routes through the rear compartment's grommet, then under the carpet adjacent to the driver's seat door sill (under hold down clips) and up, under, and across the dash to the radio. Correct replacement lead-in cables are available from catalog houses such as Paragon.
You have to remove the driver's side door sill plate and roll the carpet back away from the door to see the cable routing path. Then, it's just a matter of removing the existing lead-in cable and replacing it with the substitute. You do NOT want to really PULL on the new cable or FORCE hard bends because the inner strand that's the signal conductor is hair-like thin!- Top

Jack, thanks for your help! Again
Of course I just put back the sill plate and carpet, but easy to remove. Thanks- Top
