    69 headlight assembly

    Hello Friends,
I have a 69 I purchased without the headlight assemblies installed. The covers that came in a box are too small for the hole, & the hole has not been modified. I have heard that in 68's there were 3 different sizes. But 69's up should be the same size. Does anybody have any knowleadge of when the headlight assemblies and covers changed and what years fit what ? And , if I plan to have the car judged, what direction do I go to find the correct ones ?
    Thanks, Danny

Danny, late '68 to '82 should fit the opening. Only basic difference would be diecast headlamp bezels in the earlier cars vs fiberglass in the later cars

I have a friend that just put a 69 together and his covers were small with a big gap. He ended up useing 70s covers to fill the openings.

        Bob------

If the "doors" were too small for the openings on the 69, then someone had previously installed 68 "doors"----the 1969-82 doors were all the same.

          Hi Danny
First of all what is the part numbers on both headlight door supports. There is a part number casted on the top near where the pods go. Second the headlight doors do they measure just over or under 15 inches measured straight across at center. Do the headlight doors have the 3 pointed headlight capsule supports or are they rounded? Let me know and I'll tell you what you have. Yes there is an early 68 headlight door, a mid to late headlight door for a 68 which is also used on the early 69 cars. Then the 69 headlight doors are used up to 72 and then small variation changed for 73 and up to 82. You can email me directly if you want. Thanks, grant grantwong@telus.net

Danny, if they are in fact '68 covers, someone would love to have them. They are fairly hard to find. Good parts to advertise in the Driveline
